David WiechmanDavid Lee Wiechman, 54, of West Point died Monday February 22, 2010 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Gerald Gonderinger as celebrant. Wake services with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Lunch will follow at the West Point Community Center. Memorials may be made to the West Point Sportsman Club, or to the families’ choice. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Church and continue until the Wake service. On line condolences may be made at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. David was born April 25, 1955 at West Point to LeRoy and Rita Gentrup Wiechman. He grew up on the farm south east of West Point, attended Guardian Angels Catholic School and graduated with the class of 1973 from West Point Central Catholic. On May 8, 1976, Dave married Jody Burger at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Dave began his construction career with Pat McGill Construction, went into masonry work with his brother, Jerry, and then in 1980 started his own business, Wiechman Masonry. Dave was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, West Point Sportsman Club, and past member of Civil Defense, where he was known as “Doppler Dave”. Survivors include his wife Jody of West Point, children Sadi Wiechman of West Point, Abby (Jason)Kreikemeier and Jacob Wiechman both of Bellevue, his mother Rita Wiechman of West Point, brothers Bob (LuAnn), Duane (Deb), Larry (Carol) and Glen (Melann) all of West Point and Jerry (Anita) of Omaha, father in law Donald (Janet) Burger of West Point, brothers and sister in law, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He is preceded in death by his father LeRoy, sister Mary Jean, mother in law Lois Burger, brother in law Jon Burger and niece KayDee Wiechman. Thoughts/Comments shared by others...
